Happy Thanksgiving! Well almost. Yes, it's that time of year again. Time to start planning out that Thanksgiving dinner menu and then the Black Friday shopping trip.
Do you go Black Friday shopping? Do you get into the whole scouring the sale ads and planning out where you're going to hit first thing? Do you get up at 2:00AM and stand in line until the store opens at 6:00 or 8:00 or perhaps you camp out the night before? I can tell you I do not. I get the allure of Black Friday. The excitement of getting something at an incredible price, saving lots of money, and perhaps even checking off a few names on your gift list. But, for me, Black Friday is not something I like to do.
Thanksgiving is a bit of a big deal around my house and I usually spend the whole day cooking and the day before baking. Now, when I say it's a bit of a big deal, it's not really a Big Deal as in we have tons of people over and it's a big festive party and all that. It's really quite small. My kids come home, sometimes they invite a friend or two. And that's not even until the afternoon. The mornings are very quiet usually with just my husband and I and our little pugs. My husband putters around the house, the pugs sleep and I cook. A lot. I get up early and I prepare the turkey and get it in the oven first thing and then I cook and cook and cook. Let me tell you a little something about me. I do not like to cook, really. Except for Thanksgiving. I love to make Thanksgiving dinner for my family. So in that way, for me, it's a bit of a big deal. And that is why I don't go Black Friday shopping. After two days of cooking I just want to relax and do nothing.
I get that in some families it tradition. And I wish all the Black Friday shoppers good luck and hope you find the bargain you were looking for. But as for me, I will be cozied up at home with a nice hot cup of coffee and my knitting. And perhaps some ONLINE Black Friday shopping.
Now, if you're looking for a Black Friday sale in my shop you won't find one. Why? Well, if you are a Black Friday shopper I know you're going to be busy chasing down all those sales. And I didn't want you to miss out on perhaps grabbing something for yourself or a special friend. So I'm holding off my sale until Small Biz Saturday.
